Donal Wayne Horne was born on Sunday, June 14, 1953, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of Donal D. and Geraldine Francis (Spring) Horne. Except for five years, from 1960 to 1965, when he lived in Tonganoxie, Wayne was a lifelong resident of Pomona, Franklin County, Kansas, until his death on Friday, April 28, 2006, at the age of fifty-two years. Wayne graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1971. The past three years, he operated a forklift for Gerson in Olathe. He previously worked for Wal-Mart Distribution, three years; Our Own Hardware in the 1990's; and Commodore, ten years, all in Ottawa. He was a past member of Pomona Jaycees. Wayne enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was a devoted father to his three children and enjoyed coaching his sons, Ryan for two years and Scott from T-Ball through Midgets. He loved the 'Beatles' and collected all their music he could find. On July 23, 1973, Wayne was united in marriage with Terri Smith in Pomona, Kansas. They later divorced. On September 3, 1977, Wayne was united in marriage with Jean Hosier. They were married twenty-six years and divorced. Wayne is survived by two sons, Ryan Horne of Mission, Kansas, Scott Horne of Lawrence, Kansas; daughter, Hayley Horne of Pomona; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Linda Horne of Pomona; sister, Norma Hewitt of Pomona; two grandchildren, Rhett Horne of Gridley, Kansas, Marcus Horne of Lawrence, Kansas; his significant other, Veronica Bowman of Pomona, and her children, Melanie Bowman of Ottawa, Mindy Bowman of Kansas City, Missouri, Kenny Bowman of Pomona. He is preceded in death by his mother, and brother-in-law, William 'Bill' Hewitt. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2006. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Horne at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Sunday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Monday evening.
