Donal D Horne was born on Monday, July 21, 1930, in Melvern, Kansas. He was the son of Robert W. and Cora Stella(BeBee) Horne. A near lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, Don made his home in Pomona until his death on Friday, June 27, 2008, at the age of seventy-seven years. Don graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1949. He was an Electrical Supervisor for Hercules Incorporated in DeSoto, Kansas over thirty years, retiring in 1994. He served in the United States Air Force from July 9, 1951 to July 9, 1955, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the military, he received the Good Conduct Medal and Korean Service Medal. Don was a reserved, quiet man whose character earned respect. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and everyone learned from listening to what he said. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. Don was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. His time with his wife and children and the family get-togethers were Don's passion. He was so loving and giving, a family example of who to be and how to live. He enjoyed camping trips, fishing, playing poker on the patio on holidays, keeping up with the grandkids, and being not only a wonderful father and mentor, but a friend to his children. On February 8, 1952, Don was united in marriage with Geraldine Frances Spring. She preceded him in death on November 11, 1997.
