Dominic Christopher Salierno, 35, of Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, CA, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Ottawa University Fredrickson Chapel in Ottawa, KS. Family will meet with friends from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, June 25, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Interment Saint Columbia Cemetery, Gardner, KS with full military honors. Dominic was born October 31, 1985, in Olathe, Kansas, the son of Michael F. and Nancy M. (McFarland) Salierno. He graduated from Winnetonka High School in North Kansas City, Missouri, in 2004 and continued his education with the United States Air Force receiving an Associates in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Dominic was in active duty for 16 years with the United States Air Force enlisting June 14, 2005. He was a jet engine mechanic and flight safety superintendent; stationed at McConnell AFB, KS from 2005 to 2007, Mildenhall AFB, England from 2007 to 2012, Tinker AFB, OK from 2012 to 2016, and Travis AFB, CA from 2016 to present. Dominic received 4 Air Force achievement medals, 2 Air Force commendation medals, meritorious service medal, and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. On September 28, 2012, Dominic was united in marriage to Crystal Breshears at Honolulu, Hawaii. They were married for nearly 9 years having a son Christian Thomas, born in 2017. Dominic was an active member with Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, CA, Air Force Cycling Team, Network 56 NCO Committee, and Top 3 SNCO committee. He received an Air Frame and Power Plant license with FAA. He enjoyed bike riding, running, working on cars, and could fix anything. Above all, Dominic loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael and Beatrice Salierno and Fred and Patricia McFarland. Survivors include his wife Crystal Salierno of Fairfield, CA; son Christian Thomas Salierno of the home; father Michael F. Salierno and stepmom Kathy of Leawood, KS; mother Nancy M. Machnicki and stepdad John of Ottawa, KS; eight siblings, Mike B. Salierno of Overland Park, KS, Paul Salierno of Columbia, MO, Robert (Nicole) Salierno of Shawnee, KS, Windy Solis of Caledonia, MI, Erik Machnicki of Los Altos, CA, Julie Hjorth of Tulsa, OK, Christopher Paustian of Lawrence, KS, and Michael Paustian of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law Kevin Scheib of Kansas City, Missouri; many aunts, uncles, 5 nieces and nephews, Alex, Isabella, Giuliana, Xoe, and Ophelia Salierno, and cousins.
