Diann Gail Thurman

DiAnn Gail Thurman, age 68, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, formerly of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023.

Memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church, 804 N Metcalf Rd, Louisburg, Kansas 66053.

DiAnn was born on Tuesday, March 29, 1955, in Springfield, Missouri to John and Virginia Saunders.

DiAnn grew up around the Springfield area and graduated from Strafford High School with the class of 1973. After high school she graduated from the College of the Ozarks in 1977, where she met many lifelong friends. Later she became a registered nurse after graduating from St. John’s School of Nursing, Springfield, Missouri in the 1990's. DiAnn loved her job as a nurse. She was always encouraging and sensitive to the needs of others.

In 2001, DiAnn met a very special person, and soon married Larry Thurman, the love of her life, on October 13, 2001. Larry was a package deal with 3 daughters, DeAnne, Carrie and Heather, which became DiAnn's bonus daughters.

Many of DiAnn's family preceded her to heaven including her parents and both sets of grandparents.

DiAnn is survived by her husband, Larry Thurman, three bonus daughters and their families, brother John and his wife Tina, nephews Dylan and his family and Jonathan. Cousins: Nancy, Connie, Kevin, Marsha, and Steven in California; Bonnie and Breck in Oregon; Marilyn in Washington; Sharon in New Mexico; Joni in England; David and Richard in New Jersey. Aunts: Shiela Wilson and Sally Willson; many other relatives in Nebraska, Iowa and Alaska.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to the College of the Ozarks Alumni Scholarship Fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, Kansas.
