Dennis Mitchell Griffin

Dennis Mitchell Griffin, 78, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends immediately following the service. Dennis was born December 30, 1942, at Ottawa, the son of Clifford and Evelyn (Diamond) Griffin. He grew up in Ottawa, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1961. He then moved to Olathe, Kansas where he lived for 42 years. In 2019, Dennis returned to Ottawa where he made his home until his death. Dennis served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964 in Germany as a medic. On February 12, 1965, Dennis was united in marriage to Janice Baker in Ottawa. They were happily married for 56 years having two children, Amy and Darcy. He was employed in sales with Levitz Furniture, Lenexa, Kansas, for 25 years, and Network Direct Inc., Overland Park from 1998 until his retirement in 2008. Dennis liked western movies, hunting, fishing, and trips to Canada for more fishing. He loved his family, children, and grandchildren and the time they spent together. The Price Is Right was a daily affair he always looked forward to watching. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, and sister Marian Olson. Survivors include his wife Janice of the home; two daughters, Amy (Stuart) Gillam of Overland Park, and Darcy Griffin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Patricia (Don) Atchison of Ottawa, Judy Waters of Montgomery, Alabama, and Linda (Warren) Baskett of Ottawa; two grandsons, Joshua Gillam of Haysville, Kansas, and Dylan Griffin of Acton, California; granddaughter Taylor Gillam of Olathe; and great grandson Morgan Medina-Gillam of Olathe.
