Dennis “Denny” L. Schell, age 77, of Louisburg, KS passed on July 30, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO of cancer with his loving wife and son by his side. He was born December 20, 1939 in Springfield, MO, the son of Thomas and Ressie (Allen) Schell. Denny attended school in Springfield, graduating from what was then Central High School in 1957. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1969 where he met and married Jeanne Kern of Shawnee in 1971. Denny was a people person with a quick and funny wit. He liked visiting with family and friends and loved interacting with his children. He liked to play golf and fish in his younger days. Being a big Chiefs fan, they had season tickets and attended many games. He and Jeanne also enjoyed watching the Royals games on TV. He loved attending some of his daughter’s horse shows and coaching his son’s baseball teams. The kids loved playing for him as much as he loved coaching them. Denny worked for Townly Floor Covering for 10 years as a salesman, sales manager at Modern Floor Covering for 4 years, and Knight Distributing for 15 years before retiring. But Denny couldn’t stay home for long, he found a part time job, driving a truck delivering snacks to grocery stores for Shawnee Quality Snacks for 10 years. He and his wife enjoyed taking numerous work trips including London, Hong Kong, Cancun, and Hawaii. They also took several family trips, vacationing in the Smokey Mountains, Gulf Port, Mississippi, Churchill Downs, and Table Rock Lake. He just loved being around people. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christie; his parents; 3 sisters, infant sister Ruby, Nancy White and Charlene Gardner; brother, Larry E. Schell and brother-in-law Roy C. Kern III. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne, of the home; one son, Dan Schell, sister, Beverly (Kenny) Hill; sister-in-law Mary Ann Schell, sister-in-law Lindy (Don) Bates; brother-in-law Jack (Connie) Kern and numerous nieces and nephews.
