Dennis J. Miller

Dennis J. Miller, 81, of Ottawa, passed away, Friday, February 19, 2021 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 401 W. 13th, Ottawa. Dennis was born on April 13, 1939 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Paul and Helen (Irvin) Miller. He lived in Ottawa since 1979 moving here from Atchison, Kansas. Dennis graduated from Wichita East High School with the class of 1957. He was united in marriage to Linda Robinson September 9,1979 in Atchison, Kansas. She preceded him in death in November 2004. He was later united in marriage to Sandra “Sandy” Barnett Kimball September 2, 2011 in Ottawa. She survives of the home. He was preceded in death by his first wife Linda and his parents. Survivors include daughter, Marissa Burcham (Roger) of Ottawa; six stepchildren, Lori Bell (Ron) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Shelly Hayward (Jim) of Princeton, Kansas, Tracy Warner (Rick) of Des Moines, Iowa, Mindi Masoner (Dallas) of Chanute, Kansas, Jodie Leiss (Damon) of Maryville, Missouri, Shelly Graham (Larry) of Suffolk, Virginia; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Dennis worked in management for several retail stores including Pamida of Ottawa and Atchison, Town & Country Supply, Mr. C’s Hardware and Walmart Supercenter where he retired in the mid 2000’s. Dennis was an elder and church choir member at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Power of the Past Antique Engine and Tractor and Ottawa Kiwanis. He enjoyed model railroading, reading westerns, watching Gunsmoke, listening to classical music and spending time with his dog Tanner. Dennis was the best Dad and Papa you could ask for and more. He was very active in the lives of his children, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dennis would move the world to keep them happy.
