Dennis F. Walters

Dennis F. Walters, age 73, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011. He was born on Sunday, October 3, 1937, in Catherine, Kansas, one of five children born to Marcellus and Severina (Karlin) Walters. He moved to Ottawa in 2005 from Hays, Kansas. He also resided in Russell, Great Bend, Garden City, and Pratt, Kansas. Dennis graduated from St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays, Kansas, in 1955. He worked in various jobs including supervisor for Kwik Pantry; meat cutter for Safeway; meat cutter and store manager for Dillons; owned and operated Pogo’s Store in Hays; and also owned and operated Walters Liquor Store in Hays, Kansas for twenty years. He was a member of Yorkshire Kennel Club of greater Kansas City and also MoKan Toy Club. On April 23, 1956, Dennis was united in marriage with Donna Willson in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife-Donna Walters of the home; Son-Barry Walters and his wife, Tracey, of Ventura, California; Son-Mark Walters and his wife, Susan, of Ottawa, Kansas; Daughter-Stacy Walters-McKennon of Hays, Kansas; Brother-Leroy Walters of Las Vegas, Nevada; Sister-Rita of Glen Elder, Kansas; Sister-Bernice of Ellsworth, Kansas; Grandchildren(7)-Kari, Kyle, Evan, Nolan, Amber, Kyla, Kena; Gt.Grandchildren(2)-Hayden, Zander and his Little Yorkie Friends. He is preceded in death by his: Parents-Marcellus and Severina Walters and his Brother-Dick Walters. SERVICES: Memorial Services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011. IN STATE: Mr. Walters has been cremated. The family will meet with friends at the Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. Friday prior to services.
