Delores Jean Ledom-Cox was born on Wednesday, June 24, 1925, in Horton, Kansas. She was the daughter of Floyd Eugene and Effie Alberta (Whittington) Stansbarger. Delores was raised in the Kansas City area, also living in Lawrence, Kansas; Fullerton, California; Arizona; and Texas. She moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 1951 and Wellsville, Kansas in 2009, where she made her home until her death on Friday, January 13, 2012, at the age of eighty-six years. Delores graduated from Ruskin Heights High School in Kansas City, Missouri, with the class of 1943. She was a homemaker and waitress. She worked for Lee’s Downtowner, North American Hotel Restaurant, and L & L Café, all of Ottawa. Delores was united in marriage with Dean Elbs. They were later divorced, She was united in marriage with Richard Ledom in Ottawa, who preceded her in death in 1967. She was united in marriage with Fred Cox. He preceded her in death in 2006. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard “Dickie” Ledom; daughter, Diana V. Green; two brothers, Paul Stansbarger, Eugene Stansbarger; grandson, Darren L. Green; granddaughter, Lesley M. Smith; and great-granddaughter, Stephanie Marie Conn. She is survived by six daughters, Terri Moody of Ottawa, Kansas, Cheryl Ward and her husband, Roger, of Ottawa, Kansas, Marilyn Anderson and her husband, Gary, of Lawrence, Kansas, Linda L. DeCock and her husband, William A., of Weslaco, Texas, Patricia A. Yeager of Lubbock, Texas, Nancy J. Ledom of Lubbock, Texas; twenty grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Cremation is planned. Memorial Services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
