Delores Joanne Welton, age 75, of Kansas City, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born on Tuesday, March 16, 1937, in Princeton, Kansas, the daughter of Marvin Peter and Vera Alice (Thomas) Vallier. She has been a resident of Kansas City, Kansas since 1964, moving from Ottawa. Delores attended Victory and Martin Grade Schools in Franklin County and graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1955. She was a lifelong homemaker. In the late 1950’s, she was employed as a machine operator for Hallmark. In 1992, she was employed by the State of Kansas Visitor’s Center in Kansas City, Kansas, retiring in 2002. Delores was a member of Stony Point Christian Church in Kansas City, Kansas; Wyandot Daughters of American Revolution; Sarah de Rapalje Daughters of American Colonists; former member of 4-H; Community Leader of Kansas Avenue Working Warriors 4-H Club; and Co-Supt. of Foods at Wyandotte County Fair. On Wednesday, November 26, 1958, Delores was united in marriage with Dwight Welton in Rantoul, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is survived by her: Husband – Dwight Welton of the home; Daughter – Denise J. Gillogly and her husband, Dale, Jr. of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; Daughter – Delinda S. Welton and her partner, Gretchen Lister, of Lawrence, Kansas; Daughter – Delaine V. Zeller and her husband, Ed, of Lawrence, Kansas; Sister – Marva S. Brock and her husband, Ken, of Rantoul, Kansas Brother – Verle M. Vallier of Richmond, Kansas and Grandchildren – Eleven. She is preceded in death by her parents - Marvin Peter and Vera A. Vallier. SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012. IN STATE: Mrs. Welton will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Friday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Friday evening.
