Delores Pearl Dickinson

December 26, 1936 — March 24, 2025

Osage City

Delores Pearl (McClelland) Dickinson passed away peacefully Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Olathe Health Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas. She was born December 26, 1936, the daughter of Max and Susie McClelland on a farm in Franklin County. Thirteen years later, Delores was joined by a baby sister, Kathleen.

Delores attended school in Williamsburg where in high school she met her future husband, Duane Dickinson. They had their first date on a Farmall M tractor owned by Duane’s father that was later fully restored by Duane and is still in the family to this date. They were united in marriage on November 3, 1955.

She was a homemaker while her children were at home. Delores was famous for her homemade breads and pies. They kept a garden from which she canned and froze vegetables for the family’s use over the next months. She loved flowers and had many flower gardens on the farm. She and Duane were fond of bird watching and kept the birds fed and watered through fifty-one winters.

After the children were in high school, Delores took a job at OK Photo in Ottawa for “fun”. She later worked at China Hutch.

In 2012, Duane and Delores sold the family farm and moved to Overbrook.

Delores was preceded in death by son Douglas Wayne; daughter Yolanda Jo; husband Duane; parents; and great grandson Raef Eugene.

Survivors include daughter Susan (Curt Miller); daughter-in-law Wendy (Rick Feuerborn); grandchildren Ryan (Holly) Dickinson and Amy Dickinson; great grandson Tyden; sister Kathy Mundy; and dear family friend Stephanie Skinner.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter or Olathe Health Hospice House c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.

The family would like to thank the Olathe Health Hospice House staff for the excellent care and compassion given to Delores.

Delores made an anatomical donation to KU Med.

Per Delores’ wishes, there will be a private family celebration of life at a later date when her ashes will be scattered with Duane’s on the old family farm.
