Delmar L. “Del” McDougal, 84, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. McDougal at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2015, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday. Del was born Wednesday April 1, 1931, in Lane, Kansas, the son of Henry and Nellie (Bartlett) McDougal. He graduated from Lane High School with the class of 1949. He lived the last 40 years in Olathe, Kansas. Del was united in marriage with Roberta Bunch September 29, 1951, in Osawatomie, Kansas. They later divorced. He married Kay Daugharthy March 9, 1974, in Topeka, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Steve McDougal and wife Wanda of Cherryvale, Kansas, Brian McDougal and wife Alberta of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Mark McDougal and wife Patricia of Partlow, Virginia, Sean McDougal of Augusta, Georgia, Shari Wilson and husband Blake of Overbrook, Kansas, and Melissa Hickam of Lawrence; grandchildren, Sarah and Josiah McDougal, Ashley McDougal, Michael and Matthew McDougal, Drake and Darian McDougal, William Wilson, Elizabeth Godinez and Joseph Dobbs; great grandchildren, Lilly, Liam, Lyra, Luna, Jasmine, and Esperanza; sister, Jeanie Akulow and husband Mike of Topeka; sister-in-law, Carol McDougal of Cape Coral, Florida; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Roberta; and brother, Mervin. He was employed as an Illinois Highway Patrolman, railroad clerk and yardmaster for 40 years in Illinois, Iowa and Kansas. Del served in the United States Navy from June 9, 1949 to June 9, 1950 in San Francisco, California. He served as an Electrician and Fireman apprentice. He was active as a Scout and 4-H Leader, Marshall at Heritage Golf Course, and traveled to Hawaii and Scotland. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and dreamed of hiking the Appalachian Trail.
