Delbert Walters

Delbert Wayne Walters, 83, of Paola, died May 24, 2014. Delbert was born February 14, 1931, the son of Herbert and Evelyn Walters. He was a life long resident of Paola and graduated from Paola High School. Delbert was united in marriage to Melva Stevens, September 4, 1955. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 40 years. After graduation, he went to work at the age of 17 for Williams Pipeline. He retired there after 50 years of service. He continued farming his entire life and he was very involved in the community. He served on the Fairboard for many years , the Miami County Livestock Association and helped many 4-H and FFA kids over the years. Delbert married Patti Shewmaker April 19, 1996 and have been married for 18 years. Delbert is survived by his wife Patti and four daughters and one son Connie Morche, Sharon Guenther (Chris), Gloria Prothe (Darryl), Cindy Walters and Delbert Walters Jr. (Gretchen). Also surviving are seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, step children Brent and Bruce Blackman and grandsons Andrew and Matthew. Also surviving are his sisters Eileen Stevens, Dorothy Porter, and his brother Roger Walters. Lunch will be at the Paola Methodist Church following the service.
