Delbert Dean Buhrman, age 86, passed away on March 5, 2017 at the Olathe Hospice House. He was born on July 20, 1930 to Walter and Glenna (Orendorff) Buhrman at Osawatomie, KS. On July 2, 1954, he married his sweetheart, Mary Alice Oyster. Mary passed away of cancer on July 1976. On December 14. 1984, he married Janice Brady-Huggins at the Brady home in Paola, KS. They were married for 32 years. Delbert was the second of seven children. He attended Osawatomie High School. As a teenager, he moved with his family to Yakima, WA. Delbert worked in the orchards in Yakima and then at a copper mine in Holden, WA. He served his country as a Korean Veteran in a medic unit from July 13, 1951 and transferred to Army Reserves July 4, 1953 with an Honorable discharge on July 12, 1959. Delbert worked in Yakima, WA as a supervisor for Weaver"s Pest Control for five years, returning to Miami County and opening his own business Buhrman Exterminating Service which he owned for 49 years. Delbert loved to hunt and fish and could always tell good stories and make others laugh. He had a big heart and at times never charged for his pest control if he felt clients were having a hard time. He liked to tell jokes to others and was ornery and loving to the end. He loved children and teaching them (how to use sling shots, etc). They would ring the doorbell, asking " "Is Delbert here to play?" Delbert was a member of the Paola United Methodist Church and transferred his membership to the Louisburg United Methodist Church on December 18, 2011. He had a strong belief in Jesus and Gods plan for his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Marge Poritt. Delbert is survived by his wife, Janice; one son, Daryl, San Francisco, CA; three step-children, Lori Herring (Jerome), Andy Huggins (Chris), and Joey Huggins (Kiran); three granddaughters; two great granddaughters; brothers, Clyde Buhrman (Doris) Paul Ray Buhrman (Barb); sisters Ruth Dozier, Diana Ferguson and Wanda Dupree (Fred).
