Deett Larue Sanderson

DeEtt LaRue Sanderson, 88, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016, at Aldersgate Village, Topeka. A private family graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri. She was born June 20, 1928, in Waterville, Kansas, the daughter of Garfield and Florance (Seavall) Jensen. DeEtt grew up in the Manhattan, Kansas area, moving to San Bernadino, California for 14 years; DeWitt, Missouri; again in California; Overland Park; and in June 1977 moved to Ottawa. In 2002, she moved to Topeka, where she made her home until her death. She graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1946. DeEtt was united in marriage with Cyril “Sonny” Sanderson II March 16, 1946, in San Bernadino. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Garfield and Florance Jensen; and daughter, Cindy Williams. Survivors include her three sons, Clove Sanderson of Clark Ridge, Arkansas, Strattis “Ron” Sanderson of Atchison, and Robin Sanderson and wife Venita of Topeka; grandchildren, Levi McWilliams, Monica Mize, Cyril “Ed” Sanderson III, Chalise Tiffany, Anthony “Tony” Sanderson, and Cassandra “Sandy” Morey; great grandchildren, Damian Mize, Logan Mize, Austin Tiffany, Joshua Tiffany, Breana Tiffany, Kaia Sanderson, Bailee Sanderson, Neviah Morey, and Kailyn Morey. DeEtt was a devoted lifelong homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Ottawa. DeEtt enjoyed embroidery work, quilting, flowers, fishing, canning, nature, and collecting cookbooks.
