Debora "Deb" Sue Mcdermott

Debora “Deb” Sue McDermott, 69, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Rock Creek of Ottawa.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. John’s Cemetery 1710 Hamilton Road, Homewood, Kansas.

Deb was born on Monday, July 27, 1953, in Heppner, Oregon, the daughter of Robert “Bob” Hamilton and Betty (VanHorn) Hamilton.

Deb graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1971 and continued her education at Emporia State University.

On May 25, 1973, Deb was united in marriage to David McDermott in Ottawa, Kansas.

David and Deb made their home in Homewood, Kansas since 1975.

Deb worked at Honeywell as a technician for 40 years until she retired in 2013.

She loved flowers, hummingbirds, and was an outdoors person who enjoyed hiking and being on the farm.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents.

She was survived by her husband, David McDermott of Princeton, Kansas; brother Dick Hamilton of Phoenix, Arizona, and sister Cheri Hamilton of DeSoto, Kansas.

She will be dearly missed.
