David Lyle Yarnell

David Lyle Yarnell, age 79, of Paola, Ks passed away April 24, 2013 in an auto accident near Colony, Kansas. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Paola Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at Victory Baptist Church in Osawatomie, Ks. Memorials may be made to the Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple Building Fund, in care of Penwell-Gabel at 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, Kansas 66701. Lyle was born on August 6, 1933 in Vinita, Oklahoma to William Hugh and Dorothy Haegart Yarnell. He grew up in the Oklahoma area before travelling to Kansas, where he worked as a bricklayer. On September 28, 1957 he was united in marriage to Rose Lee Thuro in Clinton, Mo. He and his wife became missionaries in 1963 for Baptist bible Fellowship International, travelling throughout the U.S. and then going to Africa as missionaries to Ethiopia (1965-1975) and Zambia (1992-2006). Lyle was also a journeyman bricklayer for over 50 years. He belonged to the Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple, Baptist Bible Fellowship International , and local union bricklayer of eastern Kansas. His hobbies were working with his hands and helping family and friends whenever needed. He also dedicated his life to being a true missionary and sharing the gospel with everyone he'd meet. Preceding Lyle in death are his parents; 2 brothers, Leon and Lyndal; 2 sisters, Coleen and Doris; one grandchild, Stephen Michael Yarnell ; and infant daughter, Rosetta Lee. Survivors are his wife of the home, Rose; daughters, Sarah Sylla of Durand, Wisconsin and Sheba Evans of Paola, Ks; sisters, Arlene Jacobs of Claremore, Oklahoma and Irene Bammann of Walnut, Ks; brothers, Loyal Yarnell of Topeka and Wayne Yarnell of Ozark, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren ; and 11 great grandchildren.
