David Klawonn

David L. Klawonn, age 63, of rural Paola, Kansas, died June 9, 2016 at Miami County Medical Center, Paola, Kansas. David was born February 15, 1953 in Quebec, Canada. At the age of 2 1/2, David was adopted by Robert and Mary (Guetterman) Klawonn. He grew up in rural Paola on a dairy farm. He attended school in Paola and graduated from Paola High School with the Class of 1971. His first marriage was to Joyce Gatlin. They were married in 1974 and were divorced in 1989. David's second marriage was to Mary Neff in 1991. They made their home in rural Paola and became the parents of one son Albert. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1996. David was a mechanic for over 40 years. He majored in New Holland, Allis Chalmers, and International. He worked for Knecht Equipment Company from 1970 - 1987. He then worked for Olathe Ford Tractor from 1989 until 1999. He also worked for his cousin Steve Guetterman from 1999 until 2008. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola and the Knights of Columbus where he was a fourth degree. He was also a member of the Eagles' Club in Paola. David and his son did everything together. They went fishing and liked to play pool against each other. David liked to work on equipment. He had many friends and neighbors, was well liked, and would help anybody. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother Mary and son Albert of the home; sister Linda Hinkle (Barry) of rural Paola; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
