David H. Brown, age 78, of Ottawa, Kansas, died peacefully at his home with his family by his side, Thursday, August 2, 2012. He was born on Saturday, February 24, 1934 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Dorance and Rose (Copp) Brown. David moved to the Lawrence area from the Eudora family farm where he had lived since 1941. He later moved to Franklin County where he made his home until his death. Attended the Eudora Schools. David was employed by Reuter Organ Company in Lawrence, Kansas for 46 years. He was involved in custom manufacturing large pipe organs for many churches. On July 15, 1953 David was united in marriage to Nelma McClendon at Oskaloosa, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by his: Daughter – Kathy Benson and husband Ted of Ottawa, Kansas Son – David Brown and wife Janice of Ottawa, Kansas; Son – Thomas Brown of Ottawa, Kansas and companion Sandy Hendrickson; Daughter – Beatrice Mace and husband Wade of Ottawa, Kansas; Son – Bill Brown of Tennessee; Daughter – Laura Brown of Ottawa, Kansas; Brother – Donald Brown and wife Mary of Topeka, Kansas; Brother – Jim Brown and wife Anne of Smithville, Missouri; Sister – Virginia Little of Lawrence, Kansas; Sister – Shirley Sparks and husband John of McClouth, Kansas; Grandchildren: Luduana Love, Juana Uht, David Brown, Jr., Anita Birzer, Megan Wilson, Tanesha Scott, Billy Brown, Jr., Tiffiany Brown, Brenda Thompson, Melissa Brown, Tony Brown, Josh Cantrell, Dakota Brown, Chelsea Brown and Cassie Brown. Ten great- grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in deathby his: Wife – Nelma Brown; Parents – Dorance and Rose (Copp) Brown; Brother – Robert Brown; Brother – Dorance Brown, Jr.; Granddaughter – Tarissa Brown; Granddaughter – Jennifer Brown and One great-great-granddaughter. SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2012, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. IN STATE: The family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012.
