David E. Williams, Jr., 55, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Dual services for David Jr. and David “Buddy” Sr. will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 8, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. David Williams, Jr. was cremated. A rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M., Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the mortuary, followed by a family and friends visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Inurnment St. John’s Cemetery, Homewood, Kansas. David was born Monday, January 23, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of David Sr. and F. Joann (Garrity) Williams. David lived in Shawnee, Kansas until 1973, moving to Franklin County where he lived in Ottawa and Princeton. He graduated from Central Heights High School with the class of 1979, a member of the National Honor Society, recognized in Who’s Who Among American High School Students and was involved in theater arts. He continued his education at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas, receiving his associate of arts degree. David was united in marriage with Lisa DeWendt in 1983 at Olathe, Kansas. They later divorced. Survivors include his two sons, David Williams III of Princeton, and Trevor Williams of Lawrence; mother, Joann Williams of Princeton; sisters, Karen Williams of Princeton, and Kelly Pearson of Ottawa; brother, Nick Williams and wife Dena of Ottawa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. David’s father, David E. “Buddy” Williams, Sr., passed away June 28, 2016. David worked for Mac Fasteners in Ottawa for several years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa. David loved spending time with his family and attending family gatherings. He was known to be quiet, unassuming, kind, thoughtful and generous, always putting others before himself. He was an accomplished musician, playing several instruments. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle for numerous charity events, including Toys for Tots. He portrayed St. Patrick in the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Shawnee as part of the Garrity Clan entry, winning “Best Family Award” many years. As a final, selfless act, David donated his organs to those in need.
