Darrell Eugene Silvey

Darrell Eugene Silvey, 63, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. Please join his family in the celebration of his life at 6:30 P.M., Friday, July 19, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Private family inurnment will be held later at Highland Cemetery. Survivors include his three children, Merranda Smitherman of Kansas City, Missouri, Kyle Silvey and wife Amanda of Ottawa, and Rica Silvey of Minneapolis, Minnesota; four siblings, Audrey M. Silvey and wife Brenda of Colony, Kansas, Shernice Dydell and husband Gene of Manitoba, Colorado, Leslie G. Silvey and wife Wanda of Ottawa, and Felicia D. Thornsil and husband Karl of Atlanta, Georgia; and five grandchildren, Tristen Warner, Trinity Silvey, Destanie Heenan, Liam Silvey and Olivia Silvey. He was preceded in death by his son, Karl L. Silvey; parents and brother, Marshall D. Silvey. Darrell was born March 20, 1956, in Ottawa, the son of Audrey Magellan Sr. and Natalie Jean (Lindsey) Silvey. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident and attended Ottawa High School. Darrell was employed as a lead electrical technician/welder at Cargotec for the past 30 years. Darrell will be forever remembered for the love of his children, grandchildren, family and friends. His smile and laughter will be in our hearts always. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, cycling, cooking, mushrooming and motorcycling.
