Darlene Jones

Darlene Jones, age 85 of Ottawa, Kansas, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on Friday, November 19, 1926 in Ottawa, Kansas the daughter of William and Alma (Christie) West. Darlene was a near lifelong Franklin County resident. She attended Ottawa schools. Darlene was a homemaker and with and her husband, ran the Youth Center in Ottawa for eight years in the 1950's and 1960's; worked five years at Willis Nursery and from 1968 until 1970 at Daylight Donuts. Darlene was a former member of Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Ottawa and Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary. On March 30, 1946 Darlene was united in marriage with Orville D. Jones at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2008. Darlene is survived by her: Granddaughter- Pepper Hamilton and Tyree Whitaker of Ottawa; Granddaughter- Darleta Edwards and her husband Lee, of Olathe, KS; Granddaughter- Deborah Swenson and her husband Tim, of Alma, KS; Grandson- Roger Cannady, Jr., of Krum, TX; Grandson- Ace Sims and his wife Kodee, of Merriam, KS; Eleven - Great Grandchildren and Sister: Dixie Doucette and her husband, Eugene, Newport News, VA. She was preceded in death by: Husband – Orville Jones; Parents - William and Alma; (Christie) West; Daughter –Jean (Jones) Simms and Daughter- Delene (Jones) Turner. SERVICES: A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Hope Cemetery. IN STATE: Mrs. Jones will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from1:00 – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday. The family will meet with friends at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, and then process to Hope Cemetery for the service.
