Darlene Dorothy Seaton, age 80, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on Thursday, July 25, 1929, in Garnett, Kansas. She was the daughter of Peter J. “Pete” and Cecelia Elizabeth (Kenkel) Hermreck. Darlene grew up in Garnett, moving to Franklin County following her marriage. She lived in Williamsburg twenty-eight years, moving to Ottawa in May of 1991. Darlene was a cook most of her life, working for the Red Rooster, Mid’s Hill House, The North American Hotel and retired from the Country Kitchen, all of Ottawa. She was owner and cook of the Northside Café in Williamsburg, Kansas in the mid 1960’s for several years. On Tuesday, January 7, 1947, Darlene was united in marriage with Raymond E. Seaton in Garnett, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1991. She is survived by her: Daughter-Linda Mallory and her husband, Carol, of Williamsburg, Kansas; Son-Gene Seaton and his wife, Claudia, of Ottawa, Kansas; Son-Terry Seaton and his wife, Goldie, of Ottawa, Kansas; Sister-Ruth Madrid of Montebello, California; Sister-Edna May Thoutt of Brighton, Colorado; Seven Grandchildren-Jennifer Markus, Travis Seaton, Eric Seaton, Mike Mallory, Mark Mallory, Mindy Mallory, Cory Seaton; Twelve Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her: Husband-Raymond E. Seaton, Father-Peter J. “Pete” Hermreck, Mother-Cecelia Elizabeth Kenkel, Brother-Gerald Hermreck, Brother-Paul Hermreck, Brother-Kenneth Hermreck, Sister-Vera Benus, Sister-Doris Browning. SERVICES: Family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa from 9:30 to 10:30 Thursday morning, February 18, 2010, and process to Highland Cemetery for Graveside Services at 11:00 a.m. IN STATE: Mrs. Seaton will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter or Williamsburg Historical Society, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
