Danny O. Lawrence ,age 67, of Paola, unexpectedly passed away peacefully on Aug. 17 at his home. In memory, services will be Sat. Aug 22, 11:00AM, at the Midtown Chapel of Penwell-Gabel Topeka. Visitation, Sat., from 10 to 11:00AM, burial Mt Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Danny was born on Nov. 27, 1941, in Topeka, KS., to Virgil Lewis and Helen Louise Lehr Lawrence. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1959. He was an extraordinary drummer as a youth, playing in the High School band, and later, with 'Dutch and The Masters' band throughout Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Army, in 1959, and was honorably discharged in 1961. Danny was united in marriage to Dorothy Engelken, in 1961. To this union were born two sons. The marriage later ended in divorce, and in Dec. 1986, he was united in marriage, to Alice Andersen, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Danny and his wife moved to Paola, from Redlands, California, in 1992. He worked as a General Foreman, for the Atchison Topeka Santa Fe Railway, and later the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, before retiring in 2000 after 38 years. His hobbies were playing the drums, enjoying corvettes and classic cars, playing with his two English setters and four cats, and working on the family acreage at the homestead. Danny was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife Alice, of the home, son, Barry Lawrence, of Menifee, CA., son Danny L. Lawrence, of San Marcos, CA. Step daughter Mary Beth Andersen, of Corona CA. Three grandchildren, Amanda, Cassidy and Kristin, his sister Connie Tenbrink of Topeka, and her three children Lisa, Randy, and Todd.
