Danny A. Monceret, USAF (Ret), 62, resident of Louisburg, KS, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 30, 2011. Visitation will be Friday, February 4, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 606 S. Elm Street, Louisburg, KS, from 5:00 " 8:00 p.m.; Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5, at the church. Private burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Danny was born November 5, 1948, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the son of Leon and Margaret (Peaches) Monceret. He attended school in Baton Rouge, graduating from Broadmoor High School in 1967. He attended Louisiana State University, graduating with a B.S., Psychology in 1971. While at LSU he was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Fraternity, the LSU Marching and Concert Bands, and ROTC. In 1972 Danny was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the United States Air Force. He spent 21 years serving his country with his primary specialty being a Navigator/Weapons System Officer in the B-52 and a Navigator in the RF-4 aircraft. Danny earned numerous decorations, among them the Meritorious Service Medal in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal in support of the Vietnam War. Danny obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling/Education in 1977 from Louisiana Tech University. He retired in 1993 with the rank of Major. In 1988, while stationed in Texas, Danny married Mindy (Myer) Monceret, originally from Kansas City, Kansas. They soon started a family and spent the last 23 years traveling with the U.S. Air Force, settling in Louisburg in 1998. For the past 13 years Danny lived his passion of working with kids as a High School Counselor in the Kansas City Missouri School District, Spring Hill School District and Hickman Mills School District. In Louisburg, Danny was a member of the local VFW, the Louisburg Lions Club, and he served on the Louisburg Planning Commission for a period of time. Danny was preceded in death by his loving parents, Leon and Peaches Monceret of Baton Rouge, LA; an older brother Francis Glenn Monceret of Prairieville, LA; and his father-in-law George Myer of Kansas City, KS. Survivors include his wife, Mindy. Louisburg; daughter Lindsey Monceret and son, Geoff Monceret, both of Louisburg; son, Matthew Monceret and wife Tera, Spiro, OK; brother Wayne Monceret and wife, Timmi, Magnolia, MS; sister Linda Williams and husband Frank, Florence, KY; brother Paul Monceret and wife Mary, Lavernia, TX; sister, Candy Wingate and husband David, Prairieville, LA; grandchildren Braxton and Paisley Monceret, Spiro, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews. Danny will be sorely missed and continues to be loved by all.
