Daniel Joseph Scherman age 57 died Feb. 26 at the Olathe Medical Center. The visitation is Friday, February 29th, 6:30 to 8:00PM at Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, with rosary at 6PM. Funeral Service will be Sat, March 1 at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Dan Scherman memorial fund, in care of the funeral home, 305 N. Pearl Paola Kansas 66071. Dan was born July 3, 1950 in Paola, Kansas to Clifford J. (Jerry) and Lucille Porter Scherman. He graduated from Paola High school in 1968. In 1969 he joined the United States Navy where he spent 4 years and was commissioned on the USS Juneau LPD 10. Dan was discharged in 1973 with the rank of 3rd class. On May 21, 1976 he was united in marriage to Glenda Reed and was married for 6 years. He has worked for the Marley Corporation in Olathe, Miami County Coop, the City of Paola, JEM propane company of Paola, and his last employment was with the Green Country Soil Company of Paola. Dan"s hobbies were watching car racing, gardening, mowing, and he enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid Chiefs fan, and a collector of antique farm equipment. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Dan was preceded in death by his nephew Jason Scherman. Survivors are his daughters, Laura and husband Jason Park of Olathe, Lana Scherman of Overland Park, parents, Lucille and Jerry Scherman of Paola, four grandchildren, Taylor, Kyndal, Brooke, and Jace Park all of Olathe, brother, Steve and wife Marcia Scherman of Lane, brother, Fred and wife Katie Scherman of Paola, sister Geralyn and husband Dan Feuerborn of Scipio, brother, Tom and wife Peggy Scherman of Paola, sister, Ruth Scherman of Louisburg Kansas, and his cat Wally.
