Daniel Leroy Stoneking was born Saturday, September 3, 1955, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, the son of David Stoneking and Lois (Humphrey) Jones. He lived one year in Wichita, Kansas; eight years in Louisburg, Kansas; and Pomona. The past nine years, Daniel made his home in the High Point, North Carolina area, until his death Friday, July 15, 2005, at the age of forty-nine years. Daniel graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1973. In 1995, he graduated from Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas, with a Bachelor's degree in accounting and business. In 1975, he graduated from Sparton School of Aeronautics, Tulsa, Oklahoma, obtaining his Aircraft and Engineer license. Since December of 1995, Daniel has been employed as an accountant with Cessna Aircraft in Greensboro, North Carolina. He previously worked for several Ottawa area car dealerships in sales and finance. He was a licensed private aircraft pilot, who truly enjoyed flying, and member of A.O.P.A., Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Daniel loved the outdoors and participated in several sports which included canoeing, camping, fishing, and modified midget racing. And, he was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed their houseboat and liked to travel. Daniel's greatest love, however, was for his family who brought him so much happiness. On May 16, 1980, Daniel was united in marriage with Kim White in Pomona, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by his father and stepmother, David and Cora Stoneking of Vassar, Kansas; mother, Lois Jones of Topeka, Kansas; son, Nick Stoneking and his wife, Mieka, of High Point, North Carolina; daughter, Lindsey Stoneking of the home; grandson, Nathon Stoneking of High Point, North Carolina; two sisters, Karen Hamilton and her husband, Leroy, and Lisa Love and her husband, Keith, all of Pomona; and several stepbrothers, stepsisters, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bob Jones. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Elvin Dillard. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Stoneking at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
