Daniel "Danny" Roehl

Daniel Danny Roehl, age 93 of Ottawa, Kansas, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at V. A. Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. He was born on Thursday, December 21, 1916 in Forbes, ND the son of Fredrick and Lydia (Biopple) Roehl. He has been a resident of Ottawa since 1948, moving from Lane County, Kansas, near Dighton. He had also previously lived in Wyoming. Danny graduated from Dighton High School in Dighton, Kansas with the class of 1934. He then earned his teaching degree from Fort Hays State University. Danny taught for a few years in a one room school in rural Lane County. After his military service he became a self employed carpenter and brick mason, retiring in 1982. He served his country from 1943 to 1945 in the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. He also received the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On December 10, 1941, Danny was united in marriage with Katherine Brown at Garden City, Kansas. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Mr. Roehl has been cremated. Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 28, 2010 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. CEMETERY: Hope Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. SURVIVOR INCLUDE Wife – Katherine Roehl of the home; Daughter – Donna Rose of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Daughter – Daunita Drake and her husband, Melvin, of Lawrence, Kansas; Son – Robert Roehl and his wife, Julie, of Princeton, Kansas; Daughter – Joyce Clowser and her husband, Dale, of Grandview, Missouri; Daughter – Cyndi Roehl of Ottawa, Kansas; Sister – Emma Johnson of North Dakota; Sister – Ruth March of Macon, Missouri; Sister – Shelly Kunibou of California; Sister – Viola Williams of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Sister – Lydia Spies of California Sister – Helen Hartley of California; Fifteen Grandchildren and Twenty-Five-Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: His parents – Fredrick and Lydia (Biopple) Roehl; Brother – Dave Roehl; Sister – Polly Wagner; Sister – Elsie Wicham; Brother – Sol Roehl; Sister – Ida Smith; Brother – Pete Roehl; Sister – Adeline Riffle; Brother – Ray Roehl; Brother – Al Roehl and Sister – Myrna Rebarchek.
