Daniel D. Montgomery, age 65 of Richmond, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Olathe Health Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas. Dan was born October 19, 1956, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Melvin Gail and Edith Marie (Brown) Montgomery. He grew up in Ottawa before moving to Richmond, Kansas in 2003. Dan graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1974. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin G. Montgomery and grandparents, Henry and Mildred Brown and John and Eula Montgomery, and many other loved ones. He is survived by his mother, Edith Montgomery and sisters, Gayle Banks and her husband, Don of Vassar, Kansas, Lee Ann Johnson and her husband, Barry of Gardner, Kansas, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Dan worked seventeen years for the Franklin County Fair Board as custodian. He enjoyed lawn mower repair, flower and vegetables gardening, taking pictures of animals, nature, and clouds, making stocking hats to give away, going to thrift stores to find bargains, reading, cooking, genealogy, writing short stories, spreading the word of God. His last years were spent on his little piece of land in Richmond, Kansas loving nature. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Diabetes Association c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
