Dale O’Hara, 93, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Friday, October 29, 2021, at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, with military honors by the United States Air Force. Dale was born March 13, 1928, at Blue Mound, Kansas, the son of John Wesley and Laura P. (Moore) O’Hara. He lived in Olathe, Kansas, moving in 1969 to Ottawa. He graduated from Blue Mound High School with the Class of 1946. Dale served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1947, stationed in Denver, Colorado. On August 9, 1948, Dale was united in marriage to Norma Little in Fort Scott, Kansas. She survives of the home. Dale worked in commercial construction throughout his life. He was employed with Fleet Construction as a superintendent in Kansas City, Missouri, from 1948 to 1969; partner in Hawkins-O’Hara Construction in Ottawa, from 1969 to 1974; and owner/operator of O’Hara Construction in Ottawa, from 1974 until retiring in 2018 at the age of 90. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Dale enjoyed his work, being with his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; 3 daughters, infant daughter Janet, LaNita Nelson and Karon London; brothers, Raymond and Jack O’Hara; 5 sisters, Dorothy Ward, Nona Guey, Sheila Light, Ardis Lee, and Pauline Lasswell. Other survivors include a son Larry (Brenda) O’Hara of Topeka; sister Mildred Davis of Dallas, Oregon; six grandchildren, Jon-Wesley (Edina) O’Hara of Michigan Valley, Kansas, Nicholas (Jessica) O’Hara of Hoyt, Kansas, Sarah (Matt) Petty also of Hoyt, Tasha Kneller of Ottawa, Karmin London of Weableau, Missouri, and Ron (Mike) Nelson of Olathe; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
