Dale Everett Vincent

Dale Everett Vincent was born October 14, 1913, in Overbrook, Kansas. He was the son of Charles Benjamin and Elsie (Flory) Vincent. Dale lived in Overbrook until moving to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, in 1973, where he made his home until his death Friday, October 10, 2003, at the age of eighty-nine years. He graduated from Overbrook High School with the class of 1932. Dale was a self-employed farmer. He also worked thirteen years at Commodore Mobile Homes in Ottawa, as a material handler, retiring in 1978. Mr. Vincent was a member of First United Methodist Church of Overbrook and Ridgeway Lodge #62, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, serving as Master in 1947. He enjoyed his Lodge membership and attending the various activities. An outgoing person, he loved visiting with his many friends and enjoyed and appreciated his neighbors. He always said 'have a good day' to everyone he talked with. He enjoyed the outdoors and working in his garden and was quite an expert in growing tomatoes. He tried to never miss the daily news and always kept up on politics. He was also a history buff and enjoyed genealogy and working on their family tree. Dale's greatest enjoyment came from his family and grandchildren. He was so proud of each of them. On July 20, 1952, Dale was united in marriage with Wilma Anna Johnston at Pomona, Kansas. She preceded him in death in June of 1972. He was united in marriage with Ida Faye Neal on October 6, 1973, at Overbrook, Kansas. She preceded him in death June 18, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Shirley Cramer; and two brothers, Gifford Vincent and Fredrick Vincent. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Bowyer and her husband, Lyle, of Ottawa; stepdaughter, Linda Kile and her husband, David, of Ottawa; sister, Carolee Elmore of Henderson, Nevada; five granddaughters, Jennifer Bowyer, Lana Bowyer, Corinne Bowyer, Kimberly Litton, Kelley Hayen; three grandsons, Kenton Cramer, Bret Kile, Ryan Kile; three great-granddaughters, Cassie Litton, Karley Kile, Heidi Jo Hayen; and four great-grandsons, Corey Litton, Andy Cramer, Christopher Hayen, Kwincy Kile. SERVICES: Family and friends will meet at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2003 and process to Highland Cemetery in Ottawa for 2 :00 p.m. graveside services. Masonic services will be held by Ridgeway Lodge #62 A.F. & A.M. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Leray Reynolds IN STATE: Mr. Vincent will lie in state after 1 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2003 at the Dengel & Son Mortuary until service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7:30 -8:30 Monday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Ridgeway Lodge #62 A.F. & A. M., c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary 235 S.
