Dale E. Bush, 81, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at Village Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa. He was born July 2, 1925, at Emporia to Homer Milton and Nelle (Buchanan) Bush. He grew up in Emporia and after his military service moved to Topeka living there for seventeen years. He then moved to Baldwin City for thirty years before moving to Ottawa where he has lived for the past six years. Dale graduated from Roosevelt High School in Emporia, with the class of 1943. He was a printer at the State Printing Plant from 1954 to 1970, and at the University of Kansas Printing Service retiring in 1986. Mr. Bush served in the Army Air Corps beginning in 1943, during World War II in the 7th Air Force in the Pacific as a radio operator/gunner on B-24 heavy bombers flying forty missions, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with six oak leaf clusters. He was called up in the army reserves in 1950 and served in combat in Korea for nineteen months in an engineer Construction Battalion, attaining the rank of master sergeant. He was a member of American Legion Post #58 of Topeka, First united Methodist Church of Baldwin City, American Radio Relay League, and the National Rifle Association. On November 27, 1953 Dale was united in marriage with Dellamarie Allen at Holton, Kansas. She survives of their home. Survivors also include his son, Allen Bush and wife, Rebecca, Emporia; brother, Duane Bush and wife, Dottie, Bonita Springs, Fla.; and grandchildren Micah Bush, Rachel Bush and Miriam Bush, all of Lebo. SERVICES: Graveside funeral services will be held from the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Admire, Kansas, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2006. IN STATE: Mr. Bush will not lie in state.
