Daisy Louise Harris was born May 14, 1941, at Humbolt, Kansas. She was the daughter of Mose F. and Anna A. (Swan) Burris. Daisy grew up in Iola, Kansas, living for a short time in Old Strawn, Kansas. In 1963, she moved to Williamsburg, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the age of sixty-two years. Daisy attended Gas City, Kansas schools. She worked at H.D. Lee in Ottawa as a seamstress from the mid 1970's to the 1980's. In the 1990's, she was a postal clerk at the Williamsburg Post Office. From the late 1990's to 2003, she was a teacher at the Village Care Center. Daisy was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church of Iola. She attended Williamsburg United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women of Williamsburg. Daisy's family was the center of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, and loved all their family gatherings. She liked to work outside in her flower beds and in her yard and would use only a push mower. She also enjoyed camping at Melvern Lake and was always ready to go shopping. On June 4, 1961, Daisy was united in marriage with George Daunt Harris at Strawn, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is also survived by two daughters, Debra Louise Rolland and her husband, David, of Williamsburg, Linda Westhoff of Williamsburg; two sons, George D. Harris, Jr. and his wife, Tina, of Williamsburg, Gary D. Harris, Sr. and his wife, Karen, of Ottawa; four brothers, Richard Burris and his wife, Lois, of Iola, Larry Burris and his wife, Barbara, of Springfield, Missouri, Wesley Burris and his wife, Carmon, of Hartford, Gerald Burris and his wife, Sherri, of Strawn; two sisters, Shirley Townsend and her husband, Gary, of Burlington, Sharon White and her husband, Don, of Burlington; and nine grandchildren, Kristen Rolland, Floyd Rolland, Georgia Rolland, David Rolland, Jr., Brandi Westhoff, Briann Westhoff, Danielle Harris, Trey Harris, and Gary Dean Harris, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred Burris and Robert Burris; and two sisters, Betty Michael and Jo Ann Folk. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Dale Doerr IN STATE: Mrs. Harris will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9 a.m. Friday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7-8 Friday evening.
