Daisy Jean Bush-Laughlin

RESIDENCE HISTORY: She grew up in the Greenwood community, north of Pomona, living in Williamsburg and Pomona. From 1942 to 1986, she lived in rural Melvern. In 1986, she moved to Americus, to Emporia in February of 2004, and Ottawa in March of 2004. EDUCATION: Jean graduated from Pomona High School as valedictorian of the class of 1940. OCCUPATION & BUSINESS: She was a lifelong homemaker. MEMBERSHIPS: She was a member of Americus Methodist Church and United Methodist Women; Home Demonstration Unit in Melvern; and, Thimble Club in the Melvern area. MARRIAGE: On June 9, 1940, Jean was united in marriage with Charles J. Bush, Jr. in rural Pomona, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1978. On August 8, 1986, Jean was united in marriage with Donald Laughlin in Melvern, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2002. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2004. OFFICIANT: Barbara Vaught. IN STATE: Mrs. Bush-Laughlin will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening.
