Cynthia Ann Laliberte

November 28, 1956 — September 8, 2024

Cynthia Ann (Pfannes) Laliberte, 67, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Louisburg Chapel, 1 Aquatic Drive, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Graveside service will follow at 11:30 am, at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Louisburg, Kansas.

Cindy was born November 28, 1956, of the union of Clarence A. and Eula Ann (Barnes) Pfannes. She was the fourth of eight children; Mike, Cathy, Chris, Cindy, Greg, Nick, Andy, and John. All of the children were raised at the family home, built by Clarence, on Mulberry St, in Louisburg.

When she was just a little girl, she was already a great climber, one time even climbing a telephone pole. She was also known to take very good care of her baby brothers, doting over them and toting them around like they were her baby dolls. Her father and brother Greg tragically died in an accident in 1964, altering her family and community, but found solace among each other and their Faith.

During her school years, she was an amazing athlete and had a tight knit group of friends. Excelling in basketball, cheer, and softball (Go blue & gold!) She was a tomboy & could outrun all of the boys in 6th grade. Cindy and her sister Cathy were great swimmers and did youth diving.

She graduated in 1975 and went on to travel to many states and have many adventures. Shortly after her daughter Melissa Anne was born in 1991, she returned home to Louisburg and raised her little girl in the family home on Mulberry St.

Cindy dedicated her working career to McKeever's Price Chopper where she was an established team member for over 26 years and retired as a Produce Manager in 2023.

Through it all, Cindy was proudest of her daughter. It was always just the two of them together where ever they went 'Cindy & Missy'. Cindy supported Melissa in any endeavor she set her mind to. She was thrilled when she became a 'Gammy' in 2015 to her Grandson, Jackson Dean, and again in 2021 to her Granddaughter, Amelia 'Millie' Anne. Jackson and Gammy were inseparable. She taught him many things; including how to climb trees, how to swing a baseball bat when he was just old enough to stand, and how to fish for crawdads at the Flint low water bridge. Gammy and Millie were two peas in a pod, usually found bantering with each other. Cindy would love telling stories about how the day went after watching Millie. She got a kick out of how sassy, ornery, and silly Millie is. Cindy would often compare Millie to a little Melissa and reminisce of how similar they are. Cindy was always willing to tag along in any outing events (and there were a lot!) with the kids. She loved them fiercely and they were the light of her life.

Cindy enjoyed spending time with her family, going to all of Jackson's sport and school events. She loved being at the Meek Farm, riding the gator or 4-wheelers, going to the creek, fishing at the pond. She loved summertime pool and lake outings where she would soak up the sun and when she was able, she took opportunity to visit the ocean where she had been many times throughout her life. Her latest vacation, she was able to see the salty blue waters of South Padre Island, where she would sit for hours enjoying the view of the waves.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Eula Pfannes, and two brothers, Chris Pfannes and Greg Pfannes.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa (Troy) Meek, two grandchildren, Jackson and Millie Meek, five siblings, Mike (Dee) Pfannes, Cathy (Darrel) Rantz, Nick Pfannes, Andy (Monika) Pfannes, and John Conner, as well as many extended family members and friends.

If you would like to contribute, memorials can be made payable to Melissa Meek, funds will be used for a gathering hosted at Timbercreek following the ceremony. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
