Connie M. Chevalier, age 81, of rural Cleveland, Missouri, died Monday, November 6, 2017 at Belton Regional Medical Center. Connie was born in the family farm home at Urich, Missouri on August 13, 1936, the second of eight children of James and Irene (Goth) Nold. Connie grew up in Urich and graduated from Montrose High School. She was active in 4-H for 9 years at Piper. Connie and C. J. Chevalier were married December 31, 1983 in Oklahoma. They made their home in Cleveland, Missouri. She worked as a grain merchandiser for the United States Department of Agriculture for 35 years. She retired in 1992. She was a craft leader with the Pacemakers 4-H in Cleveland, Missouri for over 25 years and was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame in 2015. She was a member of the Queen of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Connie was president of Cass-Jackson Cattlemen's Association for several years. She enjoyed working at the Beef House at the Missouri State Fair while in the Cattlemen's Association. Connie owned race horses and loved watching them race, especially her favorite horse KoeCab. Her horses raced at tracks from Oklahoma to West Virginia. Connie was sorry when the Woodlands closed in Kansas City. Like all horse owners, Connie could tell some good stories from trainers as to why the horse did not win races. At one time Connie made a remark that she could have a best seller book with what the trainers would say; not all trainers, just some. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Anita Vogel-Hyde, three sisters Gloria, Sylvia, and Doris Ann, and one brother Charles Nold. She is survived by three children Sherry (Randy) Hendricks of Cleveland, MO, Trent (Judy) Vogel of Parkville, MO, and Jolene Vogel of Kansas City, MO; three brothers Bob, Paul, and Stanley Nold; a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
