Connie Lee McAuley, 71, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Connie was born February 2, 1950, at Ottawa, the daughter of Donald Lee and Maxine Louise (Barnhart) McAuley. Connie grew up in Ottawa and moved with her family to Topeka, Kansas; Ripon, California; Maple Hill, Kansas; Lake Mills, Wisconsin, before moving back to Ottawa in April 1991. She attended special education classes in Ottawa. Connie attended the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall with her family. She enjoyed working puzzles, her Kindle, and loved her dolls which she thought of as her babies. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Clester Holden. Survivors include two sisters, Gloria Jean Stitt (Danny) of Ottawa and Mary Catherine “Cathi” Page (Benny) also of Ottawa; half-sister, Cynthia Holden of Ottawa; stepsister, Vickie Dowdy (David) of Ottawa, stepbrother, Roger Holden of Lawrence; and two half-brothers, Rickey McAuley and Donald McAuley, Jr. both of St. Louis. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Kingdom Hall Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
