Connie Hoopes, 74, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013, at her home in Ottawa, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 8, 2013. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to services. Inurnment Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. Connie was born on Tuesday, November 29, 1938, the daughter of Ernie and Faye (Mundy) Servaes. Connie was a lifelong Franklin County resident, living in Ottawa since 1958, moving from Pomona. She graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1956. On July 27, 1958 Connie was united in marriage with Leonard Hoopes in Pomona, Kansas. He survives of their home. Other survivors include her two children, Heidi Woodward and husband Mark, and P. J. Hoopes all of Gladewater, Texas; four grandchildren, Amanda and Buck Flack and Ciera and Anthony Edwards; two great grandchildren, Alexz Farrar and Adriana Westin; sister, Vickie Shaw and husband James of Vassar; brother, Danny Servaes and wife Linda of Pomona; two sisters-in-law, Anabel Burgess of Ottawa, and Allene Hendrix of Louisiana; and brother-in-law, Chuck Hoopes and wife Lou Ann of North Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her two children, Leonard Todd and Monty Lee Hoopes; parents; and brother-in-law, Wayne Hoopes. Connie was a devoted lifelong homemaker also working for Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator in the late 1950’s, Hallmark Cards in production in the early 1960’s, University of Kansas as a key punch operator in the late 1960’s, Hoopes Plumbing as a bookkeeper in the 1970’s, and Ransom Memorial Hospital in the Emergency Room as a clerk in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
