Codi Renee Soper was born April 13, 1986, at Lawrence, Kansas. She was the daughter of Eric and Linda (Hutchison) Soper. A lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, she made her home in Pomona, until her death Friday, February 8, 2002, at the age of fifteen years. Codi was a Sophomore at Pomona High School. She loved sports, actively participating in volleyball, track, basketball and softball. She was a member of the Twin Lakes Softball Tournament Team playing the position of catcher. She also enjoyed cheerleading and singing in the choir. She enjoyed listening to music and one of her favorite songs was 'It's Been Awhile' by Staind. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed horseback riding and fishing. Codi's greatest enjoyment, however, came from spending time with her family and visiting with her many friends. Codi is survived by her parents and two sisters, Brandi and Amber, of the home; paternal grandparents, Bobby and Dixie Soper of Pomona; maternal grandparents, George and Mary Jo Hutchison of Quenemo; maternal great-grandmother, Frances Murray of Greeley, Colorado; several aunts and uncles; and, a special someone close to her heart, David Buchanon of Pomona. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Ottawa University Chapel, Ottawa, Kansas, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Bob Miller. IN STATE: Codi will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 10:00 a.m. Monday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Monday evening.
