Clyde William “Bill” Wheeler, age 78, of Fontana, Kansas passed away September 25, 2017 at Life Care Center, Osawatomie, Kansas. A memorial celebration of his life will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS. All are welcome to come and share stories, pictures and memories during this time. Memorial contributions may be given to Olive’s Hope Animal Shelter, Louisburg, KS. Bill was born January 20, 1939 to Harold and Eileen Wheeler at Morehead, Kansas. He was the oldest of their children. Bill was united in marriage to Darcy Hettinger at Nowata, Oklahoma. For 40 years, Bill operated heavy equipment with the Operating Engineer’s Union Local 101. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who always seemed to have the gift of catching the biggest flatheads. Bill shared his love of fishing and hunting with his one and only daughter Dawn. Bill will be missed by family and friends without a doubt, but no one will miss him more than his faithful dog Blue. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald, and sister June. He is survived by his wife Darcy of the home, daughter Dawn of Fontana, grandson Memphis Cole and twin granddaughters Temperance Rae and Georgia Mae of Kansas City, MO, along with his sister Christina Sherwood of Piqua, KS.
