Clora "Arlene" Raudenbush

November 13, 1937 — October 15, 2021

Clora "Arlene" Raudenbush (Skinner) was released to her heavenly home, greeted by her Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 15, 2021. Arlene is at rest, free from the bondage of Alzheimer's. Arlene was born November 13, 1937, to Reverend Arley and Clora Skinner in Long Beach, California. Arlene is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Rex E. Raudenbush, who passed in 2017. Rex and Arlene were a loving example of commitment, respect for each other, the importance of shared faith, and their sincere love of family, friends, and community. Arlene blessed those who knew her. She was admired, loved, and appreciated for her kind and thoughtful ways. She was a reassuring soul for many. A true intellectual, Arlene daily practiced great humility. She was brilliant and humble, an amazing combination. Arlene received her bachelor's degree from Warner Pacific College, in Portland Oregon, where she met Rex and made lifelong friends. Arlene continued her education, receiving her Master of Education from UMKC and completing her Doctorate in Education from the University of Kansas. Arlene was an educator for over 40 years. Most years were in the Shawnee Mission School District, where she received many professional awards and accolades. She acted as a reading specialist, elementary teacher, resource teacher, elementary principal and upon retiring from the school district, was an associate professor at Baker University. As a lifelong educator, Arlene believed and frequently said, "You never give up on kids." Arlene was an accomplished writer, pianist, voracious reader, researcher, genealogist, gardener, traveler, vocalist, friend, counselor, and truth seeker. Arlene enjoyed and was devoted to her faith and the community it gave her. Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas was monumental in her faith journey. She found her church home there. The many friends, choral groups, committees, Stephan Ministries, and class groups were of utmost importance to Arlene. Arlene is survived by her daughter Rhonda LaGalle, of Ottawa, Kansas, daughter Laurel Campbell of Durango, Colorado, son Brett Raudenbush, of Canberra, Australia, son Cesar Perez of Sunnyvale, California; sons-in-law, Dwayne LaGalle and Bruce Campbell; daughter-in-law Nena (Aida) Perez; granddaughters, Avery Morse, Thalia Campbell, and Laura Perez; grandsons, Bennet LaGalle, Nick Morse, Henry Campbell, and Daniel Perez; nephew Ian Skinner, extended family, friends, colleagues, and blessed caregivers.
