Clement Jacob Fuhr Jr. age 77 of Olathe, KS passed away Feb. 11, 2011 at his home. Services will be Wed. Feb. 16 at 3:00 PM at the Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel with visitation from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, burial in the Paola Cemetery, memorials to Disabled Veterans of America. Clement was born on September 21, 1933 in Kansas City, Kansas to Clement Jacob and Esther Boone Fuhr. He grew up in Bonner Springs and enlisted in the United States Army in Aug. of 1953 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1961. On June 10, 1977 Clement was united in marriage to Sandra Reed in Wheaton, Illinois where they resided for 20 years, they also resided in Garnett for 6 years, Paola for 10 years, and moved to Olathe in 1997. He worked for the Clow Corporation as a heavy equipment mechanic and for the Miami County Highway department, retiring in 1984. Clement's hobbies varied over the years but he was always involved in projects working with his hands; everything from woodworking to creating new inventions. He was always a gifted mechanic. He and Sandy recently returned from Las Vegas were he was able to see many sights for the first time in his life like the Hoover Dam, Red Rock Cannon, the Las Vegas Strip and even a short side trip to Oceanside, California. They drove out through the Rocky Mountains and came back through New Mexico and Texas. Clement called it "the trip of all trips." He was an avid baseball and football fan and enjoyed all the Kansas City sports teams. Clement was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Anthony and Robert, three sisters Julia, Katherine, and Margaret and one brother Robert Fuhr. Survivors are his wife Sandra Fuhr of the home, daughters, Loretta Thurber of Whitelake Wisconsin, Patricia Green of Olathe, Kansas, Regina Harrod of Barstow California, Krislyn Ann of Las Vegas, Nevada son David Fuhr of Osawatomie, Kansas, 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren . He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
