Cleda M. Rea, age 82, of Williamsburg, Kansas, died Sunday, December 27, 2009. She was born on Tuesday, February 15, 1927, in Pomona, Kansas. She was the daughter of Silas Judson and Mary (Kirkland) Smith. She was a lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident. She grew up in rural Pomona, moving to Williamsburg in 1946. Cleda graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1945. From 1960 to 1986, she worked as a seamstress for H. D. Lee. She was also a waitress for L & L Café, and CMA for Ottawa Retirement Village, retiring in 2002. On Monday, April 1, 1946, Cleda was united in marriage with John Robert Rea, Jr. in Emporia, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1989. She is survived by her: Son-Gary Rea and his wife, Helen, of Williamsburg, Kansas Son-Steve Rea and his wife, Cindy, of Pomona, Kansas Daughter-Cathy Swaim and her husband, Stephen, of Ottawa, Kansas Brother-Larry Smith of Ottawa, Kansas Brother-Bill Smith of Kansas City, Missouri Sister-Betty Heinlein of Sedan, Kansas Five grandchildren-Shawn Swaim, Shelly Swaim, Krystal Copher, Jamie Spiker, James Spiker Four great-grandchildren-Joseph Swaim, Trina Swaim, Ruby Swaim, Collin Copher She is preceded in death by her: Husband-John Robert Rea, Jr. Father-Silas Judson Smith Mother-Mary (Kirkland) Smith Son-James Rea Sister-Dolly Davatz Brother-Ray Smith Brother-Ralph Smith Brother-Bosco Smith Brother-Ted Smith SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. IN STATE: Mrs. Rea will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening. CEMETERY: Mt. Hope Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
