Claude Henry Hinkle, Jr., 80, of Louisburg, KS passed away April 8, 2011 at the Indian Creek HC in Overland Park, KS. He was born on Aug. 10, 1930 to Claude and Arlie Hinkle in Lowry City, Mo. As a child, Claude lived in a log cabin on the Osage River near Oseola, MO with his brother, Herman and parents. His parents owned a hunting, fishing, and vacation resort where they rented cabins. Also, they sold animal skins, livestock, and caught and sold huge river fish for a living. Claude was a backwoods, outdoorsman from the Ozarks. He graduated from Lowry City High School in 1949 and was known as an excellent basketball player. He was a war veteran from the Army between 1951-1953 and was a corporal as he completed his term of service. He married Joyce Schad of Barnett, MO in 1953 at KCMO, and has celebrated 57 years of marriage. Claude supported his wife and 5 children over the years first through his turkey ranch near Garden City, MO. After moving to Paola, he became manager of K-Ranch-Fin and Feather Club near Somerset which is now the Shawnee Mission Hunt Club. Lastly, he worked at the ConAgra Corporation Pet Food Division in which he was the regional sales manager over 7 states for many years until retirement. Claude taught his children his outdoorsmen skills and liked to fish and hunt with them and his good friends. He was very active in the lives of his children and grandchildren and went to their sporting events. He was a generous man and would help a family member in need. Also, he gave to his church and other charitable organizations and professed faith in Christ. He liked to take his boat out on the lake with his family and friends and did so until recently. He is greatly loved by his family and we will keep his memory in our hearts knowing that he is in a better place now. Claude is survived by his wife, Joyce Hinkle, of Louisburg, KS, daughter, Melody Moore, and husband, Harold, of Euless, TX, son, Barry Hinkle and wife, Linda, of Paola, KS, son, Steven Hinkle and wife, Lisa, of Claremore, OK, son, CH Hinkle, III of Louisburg, KS, and son, John Hinkle and wife, Jamie, of Louisburg, KS, 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
