Clark Jackson 'Jack' Shepheard was born on Tuesday, January 29, 1929, in Pomona, Franklin County, Kansas. He was the son of Clark Evert and Mary Marie (Eubank) Shepheard. A lifelong Pomona resident, Jack passed away at his home, less than a mile from his birthplace, on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the age of seventy-nine years. He attended Greenwood and Pomona schools. A soil conservation winner, Jack enjoyed his lifelong farming career, raising horses, hogs and cattle, racing horses and milking cows. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and hauling gravel for the township. Jack was loved and admired not only by his devoted family but many children, as he also drove a school bus in Williamsburg for USD 287 for thirty-five years, retiring in 2005. Jack had a great sense of humor and loved visiting and joking with his family and friends. On September 18, 1954, Jack was united in marriage with Theresa Ann Parkin in Lyndon, Kansas. They were later divorced. Jack is survived by three daughters, Jackie May and her husband, Mike, of Bastrop, Texas, Sheila Young and her husband, Dwayne, of Emporia, Kansas, Nancy Shepheard of Tecumseh, Kansas; son, Steve Shepheard and his wife, Gayle, of Pomona, Kansas; two sisters, Billie Boender of Newark, California, Mollie Jo Parkin of Pomona, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Ben May, Daniel May, Casey Young, Jonathan Young, Kriste Herrig and her husband, Austin, Matt Shepheard, Leiane Watts, Alex Watts; and two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Gracen Herrig. Jack is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Frank Shepherd, William McGregor, Merle McGregor; and two sisters, Florence Friend, Elnora Day. SERVICES: A funeral service will be held from Dengel & Son Mortuary at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 19, 2008. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Shepheard at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Friday to the service hour, where family will meet with friends to share memories from 6 to 8:00 Friday evening. CEMETERY: Private inurnment at a later date at Central Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas.
