Clarence V. Scott, 89, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 19, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 19th, prior to service. Interment Evergreen Mound Cemetery, northwest of Ottawa, with military honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Clarence was born June 2, 1932, in Quenemo, Kansas, the son of Charles Clayton and Gertrude (Hopkins) Scott. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident, living in Pomona since 1994. Clarence served in the United States Army from November 1952 to August 1954 during the Korean War attaining the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. His citations included the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, United Nations Service Medal, one overseas bar, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. On November 6, 1954, Clarence was united in marriage to Rosa L. Wimberley in Warrensburg, Missouri. They shared nearly 49 years of marriage before Rosa’s death on April 15, 2003. Clarence was a lifelong pipeline supervisor working all over the United States, retiring in 1994. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed his work and instilled a good work ethic in his children and family. He was a member of the International Union Operating Engineers Local 101. Clarence enjoyed dozer work, buying and selling rental houses, helping others, and watching good westerns. He will be remembered as a kind and caring man who loved, supported and cared for his family throughout his life. Clarence always enjoyed time together with his family and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend that will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son David Scott, 6 brothers, Aubrey, Dan, Charles, Roger, Norman, and John and 3 sisters, Audrey, Joyce, and Icel. Survivors include six children, Raymond Scott of San Antonio, Texas, James Scott (Martha) of Littleton, Colorado, Thomas Scott of San Antonio, Texas, Roseann Higgs (Bud) of Cedar Point, Kansas, Cindy Mendell of Ottawa, and Wayne Scott (Stephanie) of Gardner, Kansas; two brothers, Wallace Scott of Golden City, Missouri, and Ben Scott (Laura) of Washburn, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
