Clarence Eldon Cain was born on Friday, February 13, 1931, in Pomona, Kansas. He was the son of William and Ella Emma (Wittmann) Cain. Clarence lived in Pomona for many years. He lived in Iola, Kansas for seventeen years, moving to Ottawa, Kansas in 1999, where he made his home until his death on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at the age of seventy-eight years. Clarence graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1951 and DeVry Institute of Kansas City, Missouri. He was a Highway Engineer for Kansas Department of Transportation thirty-five years, retiring in 1997. He served in the United States Air Force in the early 1950’s. He was a member of Community Foursquare Church of Ottawa and Moose Lodge of Topeka, Kansas. On April 18, 1982, Clarence was united in marriage with Maridonna S. Hoffman in Ottawa. She survives of their home. He is also survived by many stepchildren and step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Cain; and two sisters, Eileen Bowman and Valeta Chambers. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009. IN STATE: Mr. Cain will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Friday to the service hour where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Friday evening. CEMETERY: Cremation following services. Inurnment at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
