Cindy Lea Schmidt

Cindy Lea Schmidt, age 50, of Paola, Kansas died January 19, 2018 at her home. Cindy was born May 25, 1967 at Paola. She was the daughter of Harold and Helen (Drageiff) Kirkland. She attended school at Central Heights. Cindy and Thomas Schmidt were united in marriage on August 31, 2002 at Paola. She worked at Dillards Distribution Center as a pool stock order filler then at Shawnee Mission Covan as a secretary. She later worked at Do It Best Hardware Store in Paola. Her last employment was at the Osawatomie State Hospital where she worked as a cook in the dietary department. Cindy loved gardening, flowers, cruising in the country, collecting knick knacks, and most of all spending time with her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Jonathan "Sonny Boy" Chase; four sisters Wilda Morrow, Vickie Schaffer, Virginia Finch, and JoAnn Thomas; and three brothers Steven, Tony, and Bill Kirkland. She is survived by her loving husband Thomas and beloved canine "Sissy" of the home; her daughters Dakota Jackson of Paola and Tamara Schmidt of Haysville, KS; sons Les Schmidt (Meghan) of Kansas City, Kansas and Michael Schmidt (Tiffany) of Haysville, KS; six grandchildren Daymien, Breyanna, Blayne, Jude, Gus, Andrew and one grandchild on the way Phoenix; sisters Donna White of Pierce City, MO, Helen Schneider (Larry) of Pomona, KS, Debbie Roger (Gene) of Little River, KS, Dottie Jackson of Rantoul, Sally Brewer (Tom) of Osawatomie; two brothers Leroy Kirkland (Katie) of Rantoul and Johnnie Kirkland also of Rantoul; many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many friends.
