Christopher "Chris" Turner

Christopher L. “Chris” Turner, 51, of Emporia, Kansas passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia. Memorial services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2014. Inurnment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Chris was born on Thursday, April 26, 1962 in Hampton, Virginia. He was the son of Vernon and Dorothy “Dot” (Hoggard) Turner. He has lived in Emporia since the mid-nineties moving from Ottawa where he lived from 1978 to 1990. Chris graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1981, and continued his education at Highland Community College in Hiawatha, Kansas graduating in 1983. Survivors include his parents; son, Brandon Turner of Manhattan, Kansas; brother, Jeff Turner and wife Kristi of Grover Beach, California; one niece and nephew; and several aunts and uncles. He was a lifelong construction worker. He enjoyed most sports including baseball, softball, hunting and fishing.
