Christina Marie Crane

February 9, 1980 — July 16, 2024

Christina Marie Crane passed away on July 16, 2024 from this life after bravely fighting breast cancer for nearly three years. She was 44 years young and is survived by her husband (Casey Crane) and daughter (Carina Crane).

Christina was a child of a military parent. Her father Donald and mother Sandra Kay Cox. Being of a military family Christina lived in a variety of places over her lifetime such as Germany, Nebraska and North Dakota and finally settling down in Ottawa, Kansas. Her teachers always enjoyed her in her classes because she was a student that always wanted to help out and had a good attitude toward school and others.

Christina attended Ottawa Middle School and Ottawa High School and during this time she loved her time working with her aunt, Charlene Martin, and brother, Daniel Cox, at Poncho's Mexican Restaurant in Ottawa.

From a very early age she was always so appreciative of everyone she came in contact with. She had an amazing work ethic and she loved to help anyone and always had a good outlook of life. She always had a smile on her face and liked to try to find the good in any person she met.

Christina's biggest passion was for the medical field and began training as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). She took a position serving as an EMT with the Coffey Health Systems Ambulance Service. Although she witnessed many tragic incidents during her time as an EMT she loved to recount the positive events where she was able to put her skills to use helping people in times of need. She spoke of a young girl who was a victim of an accident on interstate 35. Christina's efforts helped save the girl's life. Christina was able to meet the girl again years later and was overjoyed to find she had made a complete recovery. She had many similar stories and never seemed to forget anyone she helped or worked with.

Christina met her future husband Casey Crane in the late 1990’s and they married on Oct 13, 2002, and was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Carina Renee Crane, on May 3, 2018.

Christina was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer September 2021. Although she faced innumerable medical appointments, chemotherapy treatments and other difficulties that come with a fight against cancer she continued to work and continued to be a wonderful mother and wife to the end and always had a good outlook on life and a smile on her face.

Christina was the daughter of Donald and Sandra Kay Cox and the sister of Daniel Cox with extended family Ronald Cox, Grover Martin, Betty Munsill, Joyce Cole, Charlene Martin. She was the loving wife of Casey Crane and the daughter in-law of Rex and Kathy Crane. She considered her husband's grandmother, Donna Crane, her own and referred to her as "grandma" as well.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Travis and Francis Cox, Thomas and Lucille Martin, and uncles Floyd Martin, Lee Martin, Ronald Martin, Tommy Martin.

Christina's friends are too many to begin to list but know that she loved you all very much.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Casey Crane for an educational fund for Carina Crane c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.  Please make checks payable to Casey Crane.
